No, It allows your lens to focus from a closer distance which can enable certain long focus lens' to be used in a macro (close up) setting. You're going to use those with a lens, not as a replacement. There's an equation which also shows the magnification multiplier so you can see what kind of magnification you're going to get from certain lens/tube combo's

ty, i'm new to dslr cameras, so i don't know how/what/why   on extension tubes

no job, i'm on S.S.I.  :(  so i'll have 2 do the save money from bday/christmas (just like how i got my dslr)

 

maybe under $100 i guess

 

my mom does the budget

I use a $15 "dumb" extension tube from Amazon for all of my DSLR macro photography, and get sufficient results.

 

For professional images, however, a dedicated lens is usually needed, and that will be a few hundred dollars.

I think, it's the same like mine. The price is ok, but the quality is not so high.

The latest ant pictures are made with the 36mm extension ring, but to be honest, these pictures are also cropped.
