Do you find that queen ants "monitor" new ants as they eclose in smaller colonies? Why?

This is the second time I've documented the queen seeming to take an interest in a newly eclosing ant. She then stood over her until she could walk.

Pretty sure they just make sure everything is going alright. I think they will even assist in taking off the cocoon.

I guess what I'm seeing is the queens instinct to "do everything herself" fading. She watches to see that it's going OK, then as the colony grows she forgets about helping ants to eclose at all since her daughters have it covered.
