While I was out anting, I saw a beautiful red metallic ant and I've been dying to know what species it was. I found it in Lake Tahoe, CA.

It might have been a red velvet “ant” which is actually a wingless wasp with a really painful sting.

My favorite queens/colony’s:
Pheidole Tysoni, Selonopis Molesta, Brachymyrmex Depilis, Tetramorium Immagrians, Prenolepis Imparis, Pheidole Bicirinata
