WHEW! I've been really busy lately with taking care of my booming ant colonies and making test tube setups for the tons of queens I'm catching every day. Luckily I was able to sneak in a trip down to the Chiricahua mountain range in search of majestic and beautiful ants that supposedly live in the Chiricahua mountains. When I got there I realized it was ant paradise! SO many ants! SO many colonies! SO many species! And a few Odontomachus queens too! I found this Odontomachus queen in a very weird place for an ant queen to be! My dog's portable water dish! I acted quickly attempting to get her in a test tube. I ran as fast as I could to where my test tube box was. I whipped out a test tube. A bit of cotton. And tossed the queen in. Wow! She was so pretty! It was my first time seeing an Odontomachus queen! And I was very surprised by how closely similar they seemed like workers of the species! After getting back home I grabbed some sand for her larvae when she gets some to be able to spin their cocoons. And I took some pictures and put her away into the darkness... Of course without a termite that is. So in a few days we'll see if she lays eggs or not. If she does it most likely means she's fertile! Until then we'll have to patiently wait. I will let you guys know if anything happens!
