Hi all, I'm moving out of Virginia and need to find my Tapinoma colony a new home.

I believe I have 4 queens, 70 workers, and lots of eggs. They're currently housed in a Tar Heel Ants Phalanx Type III (https://tarheelants....roducts/phalanx). It has two "nestmates" (tubes to access the lower levels of the formicarium) and a plastic viewing side instead of glass.

I uploaded a video of some of them:

I also have a small (1 queen, 30 worker) tetramorium colony and will make a separate post for that one.

I'm looking to recoup some of the cost of the formicarium ($100 each). Would need to meet to exchange in Northern Virginia (and of course the ants would need to stay in Virginia).

Tapinoma (4 queens, 70 workers, Phalanx formicarium) - $100.

  • Great ants - very active and love a maple syrup/water mix.
  • The outer world has white sand and is placed above the inner-formicarium.
  • The formicarium has a clear plastic panel to view the ants.

Tetramorium (1 queen, 30 workers, Phalanx formicarium) - $100.

  • Less aggressive than the tapinoma, they seem to really like chicken and keep building sand walls inside the nest.
  • The outer world also has white sand and and is placed to the side of the inner-formicarium. I added a tiny tube ramp in the formicarium to make it easier for this colony to take food into their nest.
  • The formicarium has one panel of "museum glass" to view the ants.
