May they rest in pieces...
Hopefully you can find more, it sure would be incredible to have a successful "colony" of these with a bloated queen.

Hi there! I went on a 6 month or so hiatus, in part due, and in part cause of the death of my colonies.
However, I went back to the Sierras, and restarted my collection, which is now as follows:
Aphaenogaster uinta, Camponotus vicinus, Camponotus modoc, Formica cf. aserva, Formica cf. micropthalma, Formica cf. manni, Formica subpolita, Formica cf. subaenescens, Lasius americanus, Manica invidia, Pogonomyrmex salinus, Pogonomyrmex sp. 1, Solenopsis validiuscula, & Solenopsis sp. 3 (new Sierra variant).
TETRAMORIUM ATRATULUM

Well I might just be the luckiest ant keeper.
Because two days after I posted the death of my previous run at raising T. atratulum, I found another atratulum queen. This queen’s gastor is already starting to grow. I took some photos, Ill get her some workers and maybe even callows tomorrow, I’ve found that these gals tend to only fly on overcast and kind of drizzling days, kind of like how pheidole generally tend to fly immediately after a rainstorm.
It looks like she's already started biting at her wings.
I will update tomorrow once she has her workers. I’ll use the same freezing method as last time as that seemed to work.
I have learned from my mistake of keeping multiple T. atratulum queens in the same tube, so if I find more I’ll keep them separate.
See y’a on another thread!
