I've been feeding these girls like crazy, and they just keep hitting the protein hard. Amazing growth this spring. I'm hopeful that maybe we will get alates this year.

Disaster struck last night. Wild Tapinoma sessile were raiding the colony! The colony had shoved enough sand and trash in between the glass that Tapinoma sessile could squeeze by and were raiding the colony. I had to open up the side panels and clean everything off, I removed all the Tapinoma sessile and got everyone back into the nest. We lost about 10 workers in the chaos, but the queen was alive and well last night. She hung out in the out world for a while before going back into the nest chambers.

Now you know why I hate Tapinoma.

I have disliked them for years, but this was another level of personal that caused me quite the grief. The good news is I caught it early.

Thg have the Tapinoma attack your other colonies?

I found 2 in my younger Pogonomyrmex colony. They were crawling in via the out world's vented lid. I've taken steps to prevent this issue again.
