Talking about queens, I saw a HUGE nuptial flight today, 3 mature colonies sending around 20 princess and males. Beautiful sight
Nice, I haven't seen any in my area for about a month now. I'm hoping we'll get some rain soon, and that some other species will fly.
Queen Tauri did have another worker enclose yesterday, and I saw two more darkened pupae. I'm hoping for more workers today or tomorrow.
If I’m correct, you my friend will be having a healthy, aggressive?, colony. When you get a large outworld for them, feed them time to time at a same time and maybe, just maybe they learn to adapt and only half of the colony may stay bac with the queen

I have yet to see any, both looking on my own, and with my black light trap at night. I suspect conditions aren't right just yet where I live.

Right now I only see 1 or 2 workers in the outworld at a time. I'm sure that will change soon.

So we are up to 16 workers with queen Tauri as of yesterday. I didn't even bother checking the other queen.

Why are they growing so quickly? I thought you’d get a new worker every few weeks ago

This queen has consistently laid eggs, and I've been feeding them fruit flies daily. (They have sunburst available to them 24/7 as well.)
I'm assuming that she is just a very prolific queen, and the consistently available proteins and sugars is helping with that.

Queen Tauri is up to 22 workers now. 2 more pupae, tons of larvae and eggs. They are using more of their nest area, and are removing all their trash to the foraging area in a timely manner.

Queen Tauri had some new workers enclose. She's still laying eggs. I uh, have a hard time counting workers now, I think 30ish? They like to hide behind and in the brood pile. ![]()
