Guys I literally use my hands and somehow won't kill my ants, but that's probably because I've been using my hands for like 2 years. Hopefully your colony recovers Lilyrose! :)

Young ant keeper with a decent amount of knowledge on local ant species.

Currently kept ant species, favorites have a star in front of their names (NOT in alphabetical order, also may be outdated sometimes): ★ Camponotus irritans inferior, ★ Ooceraea biroi, Pheidole parva, ★ Nylanderia sp., ★ Paraparatrechina tapinomoides, Platythyrea sp., Anochetus sp., Colobopsis sp. (cylindrica group), ★ Crematogaster ferrarii, Polyrhachis (Myrma) cf. pruinosa, Polyrhachis (Cyrtomyrma) laevissima, Tapinoma sp. (formerly Zatapinoma)

Death count: Probably over a hundred individual queens and colonies by now. I cannot recall whatsoever.

Also I recommend combining em like ANTdrew said. Also I have killed way more ants than you so don't be sad. I have accidentally killed 1 Odontomachus, 1 Odontoponera, 13 Pheidole parva and 1 Paratrechina. A grand total of 16 queens have been killed by me, a crud ton lol.
The whole point of my post is, Don't give up! We all support you :)

That also depends on what type of ants you handle and the experience with the species.
My Manica Rubida for example have such a hard exo skeleton that noone would squish them accidentally, you have to press hard to hurt them.
Some ants can barely be touched without injuring them

Wow that's some great news Lilyrose, I'm very happy for you! Also, AntaholicAnonymous, my species are dang fragile lol, even cotton alone can rip a worker apart.(that's happened)

Hey Lilyrose, for your tapinoma sessile, I recommend trying to merge them. First start out by taking a worker from a colony and put it into another. If a fight starts and they kill the foreign worker then don't merge them. But if they accept the worker from another colony then you can merge them.

(Idk if you can understand what I just said cuz I didn't really make it clear, someone help me explain better pls)
