Is a mini hearth okay for pheidole?

I am going to be a pheidole colony, and the only empty nest I have right now is a regular mini hearth. Would that be okay for pheidole?

Depends on species, but generally yes. My Ph. dentata grew to a mature size in one.

My Pheidole bicarinata absolutely thrived in theirs, and I had no escapes, despite their tiny size.

Currently I have Pheidole bilimeki, one of the smallest NA Pheidole in one, and I've got no issues with it. I do see a worker out of it every once in a while, but I think it's just from when I open the lid to feed and don't notice an escapee. Either way, especially with a larger species, Mini Hearths are great for Pheidole.
