Update 1 (3/3/20)

Hello guys, here is my first Thunder Bird colony update! 
Well, to start off, I have a Camponotus Pennsylvanicus colony, which I have had for around 3 years. And, I started out the colony with just a queen. Right now, they have lost around 6 workers over the winter. So, they have about 10 workers, a queen, and 10 eggs. So, their not very big right now, but I am hoping to grow them a lot this summer. 
Ok, here for the update. So, I can really tell that their really starting to wake up from the winter, because they are starting to bring their died up to the top of the Mini Hearth (Their in a Mini Hearth right now). You can see the picture below (The first on was taken on Thursday, and the second one today). They have now cleaned out their died from their den. Besides that, nothing much has happened :) Well, have a great rest of your Monday! Thanks!

ten workers seems awfully small for a 3 y/o camponotus pennsylvanicus colony, if you don't mind me asking, why is that?

I believe it’s closer to two years. I also don’t think they are heated.

Good question. Well, I had around 15 ants die in the summer last year, because I had a heating lamp on them in the garage, and one day it got to like 115 degrees. So, it kinda fried them. Plus, the queen hasn’t laid that much eggs. So, I am hoping that by this 3 summer, she will laid more.

Once again we all make mistakes and it's important we learn from them. With that being said, it should be a fair warning to all ant keepers (even Ant_Dude2908 and other veteran ant keepers) that we should all keep an eye on the temp. our ants are at so we don't overheat them.

I'm here at least once a day lol, but a prime example is me moving my C. Pennsylvanicus colony (former one by the way) into too tiny of a formicarium and they died off, but now I know never to do that again, sooooo I'm not perfect in case you mistook that I was lol, but we all have made mistakes is what I'm trying to say

Yeah, I can agree with that. Plus, keeping ants is not easy, it is a challenge :) It’s part of the ant journey.

My success with camponotus is not that good either. I went to a camp and forgot to feed them when i returned...
