Heya all, so this journal will be covering my two Rhytidoponera Metallica queens I caught late September-early October. A bit of background on Metallica, they are a semi claustral species that like to nest close to the surface or under loose rocks like gravel or pathway stones, I have one queen set up in a test tube and outworld set up and another with an in just a test tube. This is first time keeping Metallica and from what my friend has told me they are pretty easy to keep because they can’t climb plastic or glass and are one of the prettiest ants in my mind with there shivering green-rainbow colour. (Photos will come later)

Currently keeping:

Myrmecia pilosula (Queen only, 4 larvae)

Anonychromyrma Nitidiceps (30-50 workers)

Rhytidoponera Metalica (Queen x2, Larvae and eggs)

Iridymyrmex Bickneli (Queen only, Larvae & eggs)

Iridymyrmex Purpureus (Duel queen colony, Eggs only)
