Very nice. Hope you get these gals to a mature size.

How many workers would be considered adult size for this species?

Another feeding vid. Totally not needed but I like how they attack the booklice.

Hi there! I went on a 6 month or so hiatus, in part due, and in part cause of the death of my colonies.

However, I went back to the Sierras, and restarted my collection, which is now as follows:

Aphaenogaster uinta, Camponotus vicinus, Camponotus modoc, Formica cf. aserva, Formica cf. micropthalma, Formica cf. manni, Formica subpolita, Formica cf. subaenescens, Lasius americanus, Manica invidia, Pogonomyrmex salinus, Pogonomyrmex sp. 1, Solenopsis validiuscula, & Solenopsis sp. 3 (new Sierra variant).

Not much has happened. Got some fatter larvae though. My booklice culture isn't doing too great. Hopefully it survives.

Went to a pet store for some Hornworms for my cham and they had springtails for $6. I got some since my booklice aren't doing great. They're actually kinda cute. They are giant compared to booklice. My Hypos still took them though.

Idk why, but I find Ponera and Hypoponera kind of cute looking.

i was meaning just a queen. if i find a colony, i want to make a natural setup for them in a glass container.

A Ponera queen landed on my harm in broad daylight once and I was so confused. It was winged but it was almost like it fell out of a tree based on the force of it.

Some sad news...I found the exoskeleton of a worker today. Not sure if they killed it and ate it or if it died and then they ate. Hopefully it wasn't my fault. Either way I gave them a big springtail to make sure they are not hungry. I really hope the springtails start breeding soon because my booklice culture is basically gone. On the bright side they have three larvae.

Not much of an update on the Hypos but rather their food. My springtails I bought aren't doing to well (but I think I saw a baby??) so I took 6 and put them in a hydrostone setup. Hopefully they breed and can keep the culture going. I caught some springtails outside and put them in a charcoal setup. I also made a culture of springtails from my isopod setup. I'm feeding all my springtails nutritional yeast, long grain brown rice, and fish flakes. Hopefully out of all of these some succeed. My booklice are mostly gone and once they die out I'll probably never get another culture of them again. Sorry if you were hoping for an actual update.
