Not a queen, this is a lasius worker.

I was afraid it would come to this, lol.  The reason I kept her is because she was the one ant I found in the founding chamber, I'm surprised there weren't more.

Not surprised.  Thanks!

IDK if this is even a queen. It is super small, and it's sooooo hard to get good pictures:

1. Arvada, CO
2. Aug. 28
3. Under an underpass, in very soft dirt.  I dug up a founding chamber.
4. Length (from head to gaster): 4-5 mm
5. Color, hue, pattern and texture:  Looks kind of like solenopis molesta (its not it) because of the coloring.  Coloring segments gaster, brown and orangish.
6. Distinguishing characteristics: The thorax doesn't even look that big, which make me wonder if it's even a queen
7. Distinguishing behavior:  N/A
8. Nest description: Your average founding chamber

9. Nuptial flight time and date: N/A

I tried to get good pics for a half hour, this was the best I could come up with, sorry.

It’s likely that was actually a nest entrance that wasn’t getting used.

Ants I have:

1 Formica fusca group- 0 workers

1 Tetramorium immigrans colony-20 workers

1 Dorymyrmex insanus- 1 queen, used to have workers

1 large P. occidentalis colony- around 50 workers, plenty of brood
