6. Distinguishing characteristics: See above
7. Distinguishing behavior: None noted

There is a thread called Tetra Talk where we talk about this species if you want to learn a bit.

The species is very simple to care for and fast growing, a good beginner queen.

Just know they eat a lot of things, so you have a wide dietary option (unlike my Camponotus Vicinus haha..) and they are highly active too. So your daughter would probably enjoy watching them, I reccomend a Mini Hearth set-up once they get around a hundred workers. The Mini Hearth could contain them for a long while, as they are small ants.

Thank you for the advise.  Sounds like we are in for a treat with the Tetra.  Where do you buy the Mini Hearth?

Thank you @Ant_Dude2908.  Helpful to know this is a reputable place to buy.  Recently bought some formicariums off Amazon which were junk.  Looks my kiddo will be doing some yard work to earn $$$ to buy this in the near future. :)

Tetramorium do best in a tubs and tubes set up. Mini-hearths are ok, but they have a way of escaping them. Also, they quickly overwhelm the foraging area, which makes cleaning and feeding near impossible without more escapes. I recommend a good plastic box with fluon around the rim. Put the tube with a tiny opening right in the box and line it with a thin layer of dry sand.
