So, after a week of thinking and reading over many, many, many moving methods. I settled with the ‘Dump’ method TarHeel Ants did his Ant Desk series (Episode 5). It worked pretty well as all the workers and the Queen were in the outworld fine. A few eggs got crushed, but most were ok when I was moving them. But now the queen is in the outworld and she CAN’T fit her gaster through the tubing that leads into the nest. She just gets stuck and goes back into the outworld. I have tried picking her up with a barbecue stick and tried to put her in the nest manually. But she is missing one leg so it’s hard for her to grab on, I really need some help here.

Thanks in advance, TechAnt.

Yea sorry I don’t know but you should use a cotton ball pick her up and put her in. Make sure to rip the cotton ball a lot so it’s soft. Those are the disadvantages of tar heel ants mini nests big queens can’t fit through it.

Thank you so much! This just got the Queen in (not the way I expected), she got scared and ran and squeezed herself through the tubing into the Mini Hearth. Thanks so much! Turns out it was not the nest and just the queen being scared.

Nice I know by my knowledge that anything bigger than small c. pennsylvanicus queens won’t fit. Ex: c. Chromaides.
We don’t talk about that
