1. Location (on a map) of collection: Modesto CA
2. Date of collection: 5/25/2020
3. Habitat of collection: Backyard pool
4. Length (from head to gaster): 7mm
5. Color, hue, pattern and texture: dark brown all over
6. Distinguishing characteristics: Cool segment between thorax and gaster
7. Distinguishing behavior: NA
8. Nest description: NA
9. Nuptial flight time and date: The night of May 24th

Caught 9 of these in my friends pool today (kinda mad that I didn’t find them). It rained about a week ago. I’m pretty sure they’re Tetramorium immigrans, but more thoughts would be nice.

It’s Tetramorium. I caught the same species a few days ago in Tracy, CA

Nice catch! I love Tetramorium!


Ants I have: Tapinoma sessile(2 queen colony). RED MORPH Camponotus neacticus(now has pupae!), Tetramorium immigrans (x3), Aphaenogaster sp, Temnothorax sp, Brachymyrmex sp.   possibly infertile   :(,  Ponera pennsylvanica, and Pheidole morrisi!  :yahoo: 

 

Other insects: Polistes sp. Queen

                    

Ants I need: Pheidole sp., Trachymyrmex sp., Crematogaster cerasi , Dorymyrmex sp. Most wanted: Pheidole morrisii

Any idea if polygyny will work with these guys?

They may cooperate for a time, but one will kill the rest. Don’t do it unless you enjoy inflicting needless suffering and carnage on your ants.
