I want to do the same, so tell me if you get an update. I would use aquarium silicone. It is very waterproof. Are you going to use mesh on the top?

Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise! It has no commander, no overseer or ruler, yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest. -Proverbs 6: 6-8

Airline vinyl tubing (used for pumps in aquariums) might work for adding water to the watertower.
