Has anyone here experienced die offs in Formica, and instead of discarding the dead like normal ants, they rip it apart and throw the corpse pieces everywhere? I've been feeding my formica fruit flies, which they love, and my colonies have started making eggs.

How old are the workers? Could they just be dying nanitics?

Yes, they are nanitics, it's just very nasty how they dismember the dead instead of just throwing it away

nanitics are always very sloppy and dirty in my experience.

My tetras are a lot easier to care for now that they have new, bigger and smarter workers.
