In that case, position the cable so that part of the tube is warmed, while the rest is still room temperature. It doesn't matter if the whole rest of the outworld is heated, though. Just make sure to have the gradient in the nest.

Loop the heat cable under one half of the outworld opposite the water in the tubes.

To be honest, I would just dump them into the other tube. From what I heard, Tetramorium are very hardy, so it shouldn't harm them.

Hi there! I went on a 6 month or so hiatus, in part due, and in part cause of the death of my colonies.

However, I went back to the Sierras, and restarted my collection, which is now as follows:

Aphaenogaster uinta, Camponotus vicinus, Camponotus modoc, Formica cf. aserva, Formica cf. micropthalma, Formica cf. manni, Formica subpolita, Formica cf. subaenescens, Lasius americanus, Manica invidia, Pogonomyrmex salinus, Pogonomyrmex sp. 1, Solenopsis validiuscula, & Solenopsis sp. 3 (new Sierra variant).

That was in my mind, and that's probably what I'm gonna do. Hopefully the queen lays more eggs and other workers don't die in a wetter, fresher setup.
