Simple question: what would be a good way to heat a THA Nucleus for heat loving Crematogaster cerasi ants? All I currently have are heat cables. Would running a cable under one side of the nest be safe and efficient?

I don't use cables due to the rule where it can't come close to itself, but that sounds reasonable to me....
EDIT: I use a UL-listed seedling heating mat plus same-brand thermostat. Only problem is it's got a small surface area (also good though since I can keep only part of the formicaria on the mat, hopefully creating a temperature gradient). If/when I start using my Nucleus I'll probably just stick half of it on the heating mat.

I have a question related to the THA formicariums. Has anyone ever bought a formicarium with museum quality glass and one without it and seen how big the difference is? I just wonder if it is worth the extra money.

I will say I once bought a THA knock-off that claimed to have museum quality glass. I packed it away but I have a vague recollection that there is a difference. Also, the magnets in the knock-off were far inferior.
