Hey everyone! I am from Georgia, USA and in this topic we can talk about ant species in Georgia! Do you guys have any Trachymyrmex ant colonies or Cyphomyrmex?

I'm not so sure Cyphomyrmex is present in GA.

I'm not so sure Cyphomyrmex is present in GA.
They’re a common exotic in the southern half of the state.

I'm not so sure Cyphomyrmex is present in GA.
They’re a common exotic in the southern half of the state.
I'd think they're common throughout the state. Where I live in South Carolina, they're some of the most common ants, and are most likely encountered in disturbed areas foraging across pavement.

I live in Atl and have never seen this species which is probably due to how many fire ants we have here. What area of ga have you found it inCyphomyrmex is common in my area and I live in the north of Georgia

I see them in my backyard in the summer and fall. I'm west of Atl around a 20 min drive

They actually live communally with Solenopsis, so there may actually be more in your area. I typically only find them in areas that have tons of Solenopsis.

Do you live in a rural area or near one? That could account for the increased diversity.I see them in my backyard in the summer and fall. I'm west of Atl around a 20 min drive

I live in a Suburban area. Also the last time I saw Cyphomyrmex was when they were fighting against a founding Solenopsis Invicta colony. Maybe not all the time they work together.
