Small neanurid springtails, resemble warty, wrinkly, hairy jellybeans. Move slowly and can't jump. Often purple/blue or rarely pale white.

Moved some Ligium to a pair of little cork islands floating in a 5 gallon aquarium of amphipods. Hope they do better in here, with direct access to clean water.

Found an astonishing 4 ironclads under a log, each smaller than the rest.

And I finally found a suitable food fungus for the Brachycibe growing in my tank. This will have to keep them alive until i can get more in winter.

Sounds like a cool species.

I found the coolest springtail today under a piece of bark. It was huge (3mm) and shiny black. I wasn’t sure it was a springtail until it sprung away from me, never to be found again.

Sounds like Tomocerus or maybe Orchesella. Something in sierinae may be possible to. I still need to find out how to culture those big ones.

Brachycibe rosea. Noticed individuals collected at higher elevations are darker than those collected locally.
