Update coming soon! Hint, some close to 100 workers!

So, where’s the update?

COLONY 1
Colony 1 has been growing well. They have about 100 workers, and they're cuddling too much for me to count 1 by 1. Whenever i take a look at them, half the colony is chilling in the outworld, but then retreat back to the test tubes. 2 MAJORS!

COLONY 2

Colony 2 has been doing great. They're around the same numbers as Colony 1. Funny thing is that they basically live in the outworld, and when i bother them once a few workers run back into the tubes. 1 MAJOR!

Sadly i forgot to get a picture i liked for Colony 2. Next time ill grab a picture.

COLONY 1

FvPXFjU.jpg

This colony has grown nicely over the past few months. They're at around 150-170 workers and have 2 majors. The brood consists of about 20ish pupae and the other brood stages. Since they love their foraging space so much I can always find a good amount of workers just chilling outside of their tubes. They accept whatever protein i give them in their little feeding tray almost instantly. Still waiting for some more majors!

Next update in a few months!

Update coming soon!

-Earlier in the year I obtained a ca02 queen, now she has 70-80 workers and has enough pupae to reach 100 before I take them off heat.

COLONY 1

Pgk9ucl.jpg

This Colony is starting to grow steadily after I put them back on heat a few weeks ago. I decided to leave 2 feeders in their outworld, but I'm considering to move the ca02 into a nest or different

container. Worker count should be between 200-300 workers, and I'm going to start to feed them 4 times a week like last year.

Can you spot the brood?

I know I am kinda late, but are these colonies still alive? I haven’t seen many journals about ca02 with this many workers or majors.

COLONY 1

The colony I kept is alive but most of them died off from mold and neglect. I was able to save a small portion of the colony and moved them to a tube-and-tub setup. Afterwards they just sat around and didn't really do anything for a few months but finally started to lay eggs a couple of months ago.

Near the End of 2023

COLONY 1

This colony ended up never really recovering. The workers died one by one until only the queen was left. Any attempts at brood boosting just led to more death. The queen died shortly after the last workers perished.

There will be no more updates to this journal for now.
