length: 9-10centimeters

color: brown

looks like liometopum occidentale, or velvety tree ants. Extremely fast growing, may have 15 nanitics at once.

Too small to be Liometopum occidentale, and I am fairly familiar to the area, so Imma say, Lasius americanus.

The time of year fits Lasius neoniger, but you never know....
