A wise woman once said. "It's foolish to get in an argument with a cat." But, little did she know... there are things even more further foolish still: getting in an argument with a bunch of ants.

I was really happy to film "social carrying today" And it also inspired more silliness.

Yes, this has an ant referrence. Give it some time.

Fantastic series btw (and basically the grandfather of every single non-episodic modern tv series with a multi-season plot) - CGI may not have aged well but everything else still absolutely holds up today.

That's gonna get very interesting once you encounter a gynandromorph...

gynandromorphs are pretty common among ants, and they are nearly always bilateral. Interestingly you can have a gynandromorph where one side is a queen and the other is a worker.

Yes, all insects and birds can have them. Mammals can't because their sex dimprophism works on a layered top-down scale (opposed to a decentralized cellular scale like in birds and insects) so instead of two different body halves you'll get all sorts of in-between states but no assymetry.

Not sure about fish and amphibians/reptiles.

That sounds actually pretty unique. What are the odds of a worker split queen in Camponotus?(After colony is a year-two old, containing 500+ workers)

Can a gynandromorph queen/worker lay eggs?

They are a very rare genetic mutation/misshap. As far as i'm aware they're infertile.

Apparently some birds that are those can. Can you get a drone/queen morph? That would be interesting!

I got a drone/queen gynandromorph in my Monomorium ergatogyna colony once. I thought it was a drone originally, but then it looked really weird, it was asymmetrical and was missing a wing on one side (which I think is the queen side).

There needs to be a gynandromorph topic
