Plaster of Paris formicariums and molding questions

I know there was a big move away from plaster formicariums due to how easily they mold however I noticed that most of these plaster formicariums that were made are made to water the plaster directly to provide moisture in the nest, I wonder if it is as much an issue if you were to use a reservoir and mesh to release humidity into the nest. Or maybe bring down the problem enough that the addition of springtails would make it very tricky for mold outbreaks to occur.
