Cool!! So is it worth it to try or should I just go ahead and release these gals?

If I do try how long should I give it to find a suitable species?

Lasius interjectus queen, a parasitic species. I love their color.

Personally, I'd go for either Lasius neoniger or Lasius americanus. I hear parasitic Lasius are really hard to start though, so if you do try it, good luck! (y)

I second Lasius interjectus. Try looking in bare, soft ground for host species. Sometimes I find Lasius americanus colonies in logs.
