Know what I just realized? I can't find a definitive resource on how to *do* taxonomy (for insects especially).

I remember my biology classes to a point, but those were American classes, so it was less investigative and more memorization for exams.

Anybody know of educational resources for classification, systematics, and taxonomy?  Obviously entomology or myrmecology materials would be awesome.

Thanks for any assistance!

Antweb.org is probably going to be your best ant resource.

Turns out the best resources for what I was seeking is:

PJ Gullan's Outline of Entomology                          (ISBN 978-1118846155)

R.F. Chapman's The Insects: Structure & Function (ISBN 978-0521113892)

E.O. Wiley's Phylogenetics 2nd ed.                        (ISBN 978-0-470-90596-8)

Fair warning, they're not easy reads :)
