:yahoo:  I finally have a Pheidole with workers and one Pheidole with some larvae/pupae I'm expecting to have workers soon. I caught them sometime in August, I actually caught a few Pheidole but only these two are still alive. Here's a video of my Pheidole queen with her first three workers. Enjoy.  :)

Edit: This is my 100th Post!

Proverbs 6:6-8 New International Version (NIV)

Go to the ant, you sluggard;
    consider its ways and be wise!
It has no commander,
    no overseer or ruler,
yet it stores its provisions in summer
    and gathers its food at harvest.

Many people find Pheidole queens very elusive even if they know there are colonies in the area.

Oh wow I had no idea, to be honest Pheidole was probably the most common kind of queen for me to find. It must have something to do with my location and my schedule. Unfortunately though of about 10 queens only 2 have made it this far. The other one should have workers soon as well.

That is an amazing colony you have there. I really like the shiny brown color of your ants. Good luck with your colony.

Update?

Hi there! I went on a 6 month or so hiatus, in part due, and in part cause of the death of my colonies.

However, I went back to the Sierras, and restarted my collection, which is now as follows:

Aphaenogaster uinta, Camponotus vicinus, Camponotus modoc, Formica cf. aserva, Formica cf. micropthalma, Formica cf. manni, Formica subpolita, Formica cf. subaenescens, Lasius americanus, Manica invidia, Pogonomyrmex salinus, Pogonomyrmex sp. 1, Solenopsis validiuscula, & Solenopsis sp. 3 (new Sierra variant).
