Garden grove to be exact, if anybody knows how to find colonies around town homes I'm open to hearing any input. Anyway, I have seen some of the colonies around the forum and videos on YouTube which brought me to the forum. I'm a beginner to this whole thing and catching ants for fun was what got me started. Now I realize that you need a queen and have yet to found one or a colony. in conclusion, lol i'm glad to join this community :D  deuces!!

Welcome! Well, I definitely do not suggest digging a colony up, the next mating flight occurs some time in January, and the species is Prenolepsis imparis. If you cannot wait until then, you can buy a young colony from someone like dspdrew, although I would suggest watching some tutorials and reading some more first. :)

Welcome Justin.

There is a lot of knowledge on this forum and other forums across the web. I am starting my first colonies this year and have learned a lot from the people in this community. Good luck on your future ant endeavors.
