Hi!

We're George and Zach, and we're the founders of American Ant Supply. We're a new ant supply shop started this year, and we're trying to make ant-keeping more accessible for everyone.

We are based in Nashville, Tennessee, and are associated with Canada Ant Colony. American Ant Supply is run by ant-keepers with years of experience with introducing ant-keeping to the world. Currently, we think that the biggest barrier in ant-keeping is the knowledge gap and the lack of assistance at the start of the hobby. Our goal is to break down the barriers in knowledge and cost to get into the hobby.

We'll provide the best care, stepping you through each stage of your ant-keeping journey with live chat, emails, and by phone. Currently, our offerings are a bit bare, but you'll see a lot more coming in the next few weeks and months!

At the moment, we're also the primary distributor of nests for Esthetic Ants in the United States for both wholesale and retail purposes.

We are also supplied with ant keeping essentials, including:
  • Sunburst Nectar: A shelf stable sucrose solution formulated for optimal receptivity among many ant species
  • Liquid Feeders: Small and sturdy gravity-assisted liquid feeder designed especially with ants in mind
  • ByFormica Fluon: Draws invisible lines on plastics, glass, and metals that most climbing insects can not cross

Visit us at American Ant Supply!

Oh thank god I've been trying to get this nest for my Camponotus nicobarensis (they have a small one that's similar and love it more than any other nest including wood, cork and plaster...) but right now like half of them are living in a sand castle slum they made for themselves in their outworld... so I hope this will get them back in their nest.

But I couldn't find it in stock anywhere. Have you considered carrying:

* urea powder (nutrition supplement for camponotus) It's cheap but comes in one pound bags and antkeepers only need like a tablespoon full.

* small glass tubes like these for water feeding: https://www.aliexpre...5418766388.html(sold in sets of 50 and that's too many)

Starting this July I'm posting videos of my ants every week on youTube.

I like to make relaxing videos that capture the joy of watching ants.

If that sounds like your kind of thing... follow me >here<

Right now our focus is getting all the core products in (fluon, soft tweezers, outworlds)

That said, we should be able to get those feeders and urea powder setup pretty easily

Yes! But at the moment, we only have permits for the species indicated above in the second post.

Here's the link to them:

For the following species:

Crematogaster laeviuscula
Crematogaster lineolata
Dorymyrmex flavus
Formica argentea
Lasius americanus/neoniger
Pheidole bicarinata
Pheidole pilifera
Solenopsis xyloni

We'll be working on more availability to the west coast, unfortunately because we're mainly dealing with Tennessee natives right now, it will be difficult till we move out.

Hi again!

As promised, we have a new stock update! First off, we have FORANTO wood nests incoming. These are some of the most aesthetically pleasing wood formicaria in the market, and are particularly suitable for wood nesting ants that require no internal nest humidity, such as Carpenter Ant species. We will also be re-stocking on hydration chambers, so keep an eye out for more updates!

We also have a variety of carpenter ant species now in stock:

  • Chestnut Carpenter Ants: beautiful ants with bright orange coloring who also happen to be one of the largest ant species in North America. They form large colonies, but are typically timid, coming out only at night in mixed forests and savannah.
  • Rusty Carpenter Ants: a large ant found across much of the Eastern United States. They are polymorphic, producing a large soldier caste as well as smaller nurse workers. These ants often nest in rotting logs, with some chambers extending into the soil. They are a great beginner species.
  • Bicolor Carpenter Ants: a small arboreal carpenter ant from the United States. They can be distinguished by the red head and thorax, and the black abdomen. These carpenter ants are on the smaller side, with queens ranging from 9mm - 12 mm and workers ranging from 5mm - 11 mm.
