While I unfortunately do not have access to Rhytidoponera, those who do should consider this study: https://www.antwiki....4/Ward_1986.pdf. Apparently, R. metallica reproduces mostly by gamergates, with queens being an afterthought. At the end of their study, the R. metallica colonies, raised from single queens, had either died or done poorly, while their colony of the more queen-centric R. chalybaea had over 200 workers.

I doubt you could find and catch a gamergate, at least not as easily as you can find queens.

It does however provide some interesting ideas on how to revive a colony whose queen has died. Or possibly how to split up a colony into multiple fertile ones.
