I would like to keep an ant colony in my classroom. I kept a Camponotas quercicola colony for 3 years, but I think the classroom environment probably wasn't the best for them so I am looking for a species that is more tolerant of a chaotic environment.
Any suggestions for a very easy to care for ant species that would be able to thrive in a busy classroom? I live in CA, so something I could get locally? And, in a dream world, it would be a species that could eat non-live insects (or meat or eggs?) to reduce trips to the pet store.
Any ideas?
Thank you!!
