I found this ant on the brick on my house today. It's half an inch long. The head and middle are red. The back end is black. Any idea what k8nd it is? Could it be a queen? I tried to get good pictures, but it kept moving.

Camponotus major worker. Sadly not a queen.

Next time, please follow the proper ID format.
This is a Camponotus worker, in the subgenus Myrmentoma.
Hi there! I went on a 6 month or so hiatus, in part due, and in part cause of the death of my colonies.
However, I went back to the Sierras, and restarted my collection, which is now as follows:
Aphaenogaster uinta, Camponotus vicinus, Camponotus modoc, Formica cf. aserva, Formica cf. micropthalma, Formica cf. manni, Formica subpolita, Formica cf. subaenescens, Lasius americanus, Manica invidia, Pogonomyrmex salinus, Pogonomyrmex sp. 1, Solenopsis validiuscula, & Solenopsis sp. 3 (new Sierra variant).

I'm sorry 😞. Thank you for your help. I will review the proper format.
