Hello! I'm going to be making a DIY formicarium on the weekends. I'm planning to make a formicarium like this:

Just wondering about how am i going to hydrate this nest! Please share some thoughts of some ways i can hydrate the nest. Thanks!

P.S I'm using grout as my substance.

Crystal's ant-keeping guide talks about that a little bit.  Look for the section on "Hydration".

If this is your first formicarium, I'd recommend using a proven design.  I know from personal experience that getting the hydration just right is difficult.  I'd therefore recommend trying one of Crystal's grout formicariums () for starters. Later, you might try to give the ants the choice between Crystal's formicarium and your own design.
