Hey folks,
I recently caught my first queen of the Florida Carpenter Ant (Camponotus floridanus) a few days ago. Within two days she laid a nice little clutch of eggs as well. My question is- Is it ok to feed her watered down honey once a week or every two weeks? I have her in a basic test tube setup with access to water via the cotton ball method. I wanted to give her a bit of honey water as a treat which I thought she would appreciate. This is my very first experience with Camponotus floridanus. I do have experience with Dorymyrmex bureni and Solenopsis invicta. I have to admit that she seems to be very calm, and doesn't freak out about lighting. Ty everyone for taking the time to read this. Hope to hear some advice.😀

I feed all of my queens and they have higher worker count at the end of the year than queens I don't feed, so yes. Feed her very small amounts though. If you'd like, you can give her a fruit fly.

does this work with other Camponotus queens like pennsylvanicus?
