I caught this queen around June and she just got her first 3 workers the other day (will provide pictures later today). I gave her a little sugar water and a Banana cockroach as a first meal for her workers and they loved it. Also gave her brood from my other Camponotus Hurculeanus queen as she was failing as a queen so she now has a bunch of brood waiting to turn to pupae. She is also the bigger of the 3 queens that i caught of this species

it happens. i was lucky to get 3 of these girls so fingers crossed the brood boost helps her out. one other queen has 1 worker but no more brood so either she's waiting for hibernation or she's a dud also

No true Update to post the queen and workers have been taking care of the brood that i boosted them with and appears to have another worker on the way either later today or tomorrow

 

edit: Checked on her when i got home and she has a 5th worker

My queen is now up to seven workers and i attached their test tube to an AC portal so they have some room to roam around. (They really hated the cotton). I have also started thinking about starting a Youtube channel so i can show case all of my insects that i am working on owning as of right now i have like 15-20 ant colonies going and i have two praying mantises that I'm going to breed together. Will provide pictures of my queen later when i get back to my house tonight and i have decided to name her Alcmene i have decided this name because she is the mother of Hercules himself.

sadly 2 of the 7 workers dies so she's down to 5 workers i think they just didn't have enough sugar water so i fed them. Will be feeding them a baby dubia later today, as my banana roaches are being pains as far as being collectable

Nice to see another person keeping this species. Caught my queen beginning of may. Must have gotten lucky as she is at around 30 workers now. Heat definitely helps with these guys far more than any other ant I have seen.

What is the difference between C.herculeanus and C.chromaiodes? I'm not sure which one I have. I caught a queen back on May 23rd. She is up to 12 or so workers.

No Hurculeanus in NY it's definitely Chromaides
