I have a queen ant(I believe) that I  caught today. This is a pic of her.

1. Vermont

 

2. 8/25

 

3. Sidewalk

 

4. Unknown, too fast

 

5. Dark Head with Orange mandibles and dark thorax, but orange titnted gaster

 

6. Pointed mandibles

 

7. Gaster is pointed down.

I'm not jumping to conclusions but I'll throw in Aphaenogaster picea. The coloration as you described it doesn't seem so through the images.

It does look a lot like A. picea that have been flying, though size in MM would help as they are the smallest I believe in New England for Aphaenogaster.  I find A. picea and A. fulva the two most popular species in my area by far.
