1. Found in my front yard. (Portland OR)

2. 4-5 days ago. 
3. length: 1-1.2cm
4. Colors/ features: Black, has 3 large black rings around it's gaster, 1 petiole node as far as I can tell.

 

WARNING! The following pictures should be viewed with discretion due to their atrociousness. (I couldn't seem to get any pictures better than this, tips/advice would be welcome. (I'm using a smartphone camera))

Formica sp, possibly Formica neogagates (size doesn't match though). 

 

Better pics would help to reveal exact species.

Could be Formica Fusca... I'm not an expert in ants in Oregon so it could be something else but definitely Formica sp.

As for your species ID. It looks like a species in the the F. fusca species group.

I read the link and I understand that it states that F. fusca is not found in North America but on Antweb when you search for Oregon, USA it has F. fusca on it
