I know what this is. But, I will only say once you put it in ID format.

Hi there! I went on a 6 month or so hiatus, in part due, and in part cause of the death of my colonies. 

However, I went back to the Sierras, and restarted my collection, which is now as follows:

Aphaenogaster uinta, Camponotus vicinus, Camponotus modoc, Formica cf. aserva, Formica cf. micropthalma, Formica cf. manni, Formica subpolita, Formica cf. subaenescens, Lasius americanus, Manica invidia, Pogonomyrmex salinus, Pogonomyrmex sp. 1, Solenopsis validiuscula, & Solenopsis sp. 3 (new Sierra variant).

1. Found it on the root of ficus bonsai at around 9:30 pm in La mesa

2. Caught October 22

3. Found with no wings

4. Has laid no eggs. Very active when I check on it.

Length in millimeters would help.

It may well be that this is C. yogi, but other photos at different angles would be helpful.

Look at pictures of C. yogi and C. clarithorax to figure it out. Drew's journal of the yogi offers good pictures, and you can just go on antwiki as well.

I officially suck at this. Tried to look at pictures from both and can't tell. Anyhow, I was also wondering why it hasn't laid any eggs since I caught it in October. Do yogi or clarithorax hibernate?

It depends on where you found them. If the ants in your area hibernate, it will hibernate. And I am positive that this is yogi.

I found it in La Mesa so I'm guessing no hibernation? The coldest it gets is usually the 40's.
