Queen ID Request Midlothian, Virginia 7/12/18

Location: Found Running on top of the grass in my yard

Date Collected: 7/12/18 at around 2 pm

Habitat nearby: Mostly oak forest excluding my yard

Length: ~~10-12mm

Coloration: Redish/Orange thorax and head with a much more noticeably orange gaster

Distinguishing characteristics: Long thin antennae, Rounder abdomen shape than other species ( Can be seen very well in the pictures hopefully)

Likely a queen belonging to the species group Formica pallidefulva, containing 6 closely related species. I believe you may need better pictures for a sure ID within this species group.
