Found this ant today (July 8) in Minnesota, USA. This ant is right around 10 mm long. She ran like a crazy thing until she found herself in a proper test tube setup, after just minutes she’s settled right down. So far she isn’t picking at the cotton. I found my first queen 6 weeks ago and have spent my lunch time walking, free time on trail paths, and even setting up a black light with a bed sheet on the weekends. 😀

Ok thank you. I’ve spent some time reading about this sp and it sounds like the queens are very sensitive to activity and are susceptible to eating the brood. Is this true? Is there anything else someone new to this should know that you can think of?
