So. I was referred here from Reddit.

I live in Sacramento. I am looking for ants. I'd like a queen with a couple (or a lot) of workers....if a Camponotus colony at least a year old, maybe two (since they breed so slowly).

I've contacted GAN and gotten no response for 2 weeks now.

I received my Omni Nest (Small) from AC today....I am ready and prepared. I caught one queen so far this year....but i'd like to raise some ants since I believe it is a Camponotus so at least a year or two before it needs a nest or outworld.

Anyone in Sacramento or within a 2 hour drive (ONE WAY) have some ants I can buy?

EDIT: I'd would PREFER a species native to Cali and ONLY in CALI....if i could. I am ready.......PLEASE help.

I have a handful of colonies for sale, but no Camponotus at the moment. As for not needing an outworld for a year or two, if you keep the queen at 85 degrees Fahrenheit, and feed her protein twice a week along with sugar every other day, they should grow quite fast. My Camponotus caught on the last day of March already have 11 or so workers, along with a major pupa. One has 9 workers and over 20 eggs.

If you can sustain such care, your queen will produce a great colony in very little time. They will probably need an outworld in a few months time.

Otherwise, I do have the contacts for the GAN farmers in your area. PM me if you would like them.
