Queen Ant?

I found a ant today at Acadia National Park, Maine (don’t worry I won’t be taking her back to nj) I was wondering if she is 1 a queen and 2 what species. I have limited resources and was unable to use a ruler to measure her. She is fairly large and is roughly half an inch (15mm).

some sort of camponotus queen leaning towards C. Modoc maybe? what color is her thorax where her waist meets? also like the above said not a queen.

No Camponotus modoc in NJ, but C. pennsylvanicus and C. chromaiodes are possibilities. The pictures are too dark for me to tell.

If you've enjoyed using my expertise and identifications, please do not create undue ecological risk by releasing your ants. The environment which we keep our pet insects is alien and oftentimes unsanitary, so ensure that wild populations stay safe by giving your ants the best care you can manage for the rest of their lives, as we must do with any other pet.

Exotic ants are for those who think that vibrant diversity is something you need to pay money to see. It is illegal to transport live ants across state lines.
