So I got an acrylic nest for my Camponotus Novaeboracensis. Is that ok? Like, do they have to be in wood or ytong? I’ve seen Camponotus in acrylic before, but just wanted to confirm. I’m afraid that it may be too humid, and the acrylic to slippery. Any ANTswers would be greatly appreciated. (Sorry for the pun)

I think they will survive okay in acrylic. I wouldn't worry much about humidity too much but if you think it's too humid you can just water a bit less, Camponotus are very good at regulating themselves to stay humid.
Just a little boy that likes ants. I try my best to be mature and competent.
My Colonies
Camponotus floridanus

the thing with Camponotus is that they don't always make the space that they live in. they will happily use an existing space and save the effort. As far as humidity goes, like with any other species, you will have to experiment. at the worst they may move the brood to the attaching tube where it is less humid.
