Question on substrate for naturalistic set up.

I've read for soil you want something with no pesticides or fertilizers, but would earthworm castings with no additives be safe?

I suggest taking dirt from the forest (Not boiling nor freezing) because it will more than likely introduce helpful mites and springtails and other organisms.
