I have an Opisthopsis Rufithorax (strobe ant) queen with some brood currently in a test tube setup

I want to move her into one of my Atom C's

So once she is inside the Atom I can seal it up like a test tube, and she won't need to drink water?

I know there will be water in the water tower, but it has mesh covering it.

Current ant colonies -
1) Opisthopsis Rufithorax (strobe ant), Melophorus sp2. black and orange, Pheidole species, Pheidole antipodum

correct me if I'm wrong as i am no means an expert but ants should be able to absorb the water from their environment and as long as the nest material is hydrated she should be fine?

I believe you are correct. Ants in the wild do not have water dammed up by cotton to drink.

thanks guys -

I also emailed Tarheel Ants -

She will not need to drink water during the founding stage.  Despite this, even though it is their natural behavior, I still try to give a dew tiny droplets inside the habitat about once a week.  How you do this depends on many things such as where she is positioned, the habitat, what tools you have etc.

be careful with disturbing her too much as it may stress her out and could result in her eating her eggs

I'm using a cotton wool plug for the entrance, so I could just wet that
