I am interested in your opinion of which ants are the most interesting to observe/keep. I enjoy my Messor barbarus and Lasius niger immensely. The Messors keep digging, carrying seeds, and are polymorphic, where the L. Nigers are fast runners and very interesting explorers and recruiters.
Which species do you guys recommend next? They should also be pretty easy to maintain, i.e. beginner or intermediate difficulty.

keep camponotus. lots of different colors, found everywhere, big ants with huge polymorphic majors

@KBant Yes, I have a small Camponotus barbaricus colony! Unfortunately I lost one third of them today at feeding time. It was a colony of three, you see 

The little runner slipped as soon as I opened the lid, never to be found. Big ants, interesting expanding gasters too
