Looks rather like a Carolina mantis to me.

Yah, one of the joys of allowing slang terms into biology of any sort.

Similarly, "lab" is not a proper word, the appropriate term is "laboratory."

On the subject of the ooth being fertile... it's rather rare for female insects to last a long time without mating. Female mantids release pheromones that attract males from a considerable distance. Given that you found two there's clearly a strong population and the chance that the mantis never mated is exceedingly low.

Do you plan to keep them? What will you be housing them in? What will you be feeding them?

I'm gonna keep the egg sac and collect some more. I plan on doing some research and starting mantid keeping next spring.
